All players must register to participate in an IHACT session, whether it is a training session, the draft, a league or a tournament. There are 3 components of a registration:
- Ice Hockey Australia Membership – this is an annual membership that covers your national and international registration, as well as providing a level of insurance cover for any incidents that may occur in a sanctioned event
- Ice Hockey ACT Membership – this is an annual membership that covers the cost of locally organising the competitions, as well as maintaining equipment
- Registration Fee – this fee covers the direct cost of staging an event, including cost to hire the rink, officials and any tournament entry fees charged by other organisations
IHACT is a not for profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. No IHACT representative receives any remuneration and the Association seeks to be cost neutral for all events.
All three payments must be made in full before a player can participate in an event in order to ensure fairness for all members. Players or teams that have not me their financial obligations will be suspended from play and have games cancelled. No refunds, credits or rescheduling will be offerred in this situation.
There are reduced memberships available for persons wishing to officiate or be a part of the association without playing. Refer to the eSportsDesk registrations page (refer below) for full details.
How Do I Register?
IHACT uses the eSportsDesk platform to manage allmembership and registration transactions. All payments must be made by credit or debit card. You will need to create a profile on eSportsDesk the first time you visit, which is free. Parents can also link junior accounts to their account to make group registrations easily.
You can access the IHACT page of eSportsDesk here
Once signed in, you can see a list of current Registrations open by clicking on the ‘Registrations‘ button on the main page. Once you have found the event you want to register for, simply click the ‘Register’ button on that section and follow the steps and make payments. Any memberships you require but do not currently have will be automatically added to the transaction as you progress.
If you want to make multiple registrations in the one transaction, just click the ‘Register Now‘ button at the top of the page once each registration has been added to your cart.
Have You Just Moved to the ACT?
If you have just moved to the ACT, there are some additional steps to take to ensure your membership is valid.
Moved from Interstate within Australia?
If you have played hockey in another state at any time, your membership will need to be transferred from that state to the ACT. This is a quick and simple process that has no cost. Simply fill out the IHA Player Movement Form and email it to secretary@ihact.org.au . A copy of the form can be found on our ‘Documents and Forms’ page here.
Moved to Australia from Overseas?
If you have moved to Australia from overseas, IIHF rules require you to obtain an International Transfer Card (ITC). This is a mandatory requirement for everyone, even if you never played hockey in your previous country of residence. For full details on how this process works, please refer to the International Transfers page on the IHA website here
For any enquires regarding interstate or international transfers, please contact secretary@ihact.org.au
Refund Policy
IHACT has a Refund Policy that allows for refunds on a very restricted basis. This is to ensure that costs are fairly shared between participants, and all members are not charged a premium to cover potential refunds to some. Refer to the IHACT Payments Policy in the Governance section of this website here
Note that only the Registration fee for the event can be refunded. IHA and IHACT memberships are not able to be refunded either in part or in full under any circumstances.
Family Discount
IHACT offers a discount to families with multiple junior players playing at the same time, as follows:
- 2 juniors from the same family: $50 discount off total fees
- 3 or more juniors from the same family: $100 discount off total fees
These discounts are available to juniors in the same basic family unit, ie they are siblings, not to extended families. The discount is applied to the total registration cost, it is not per junior.
Please note, to be eligible for the discount the user should complete all junior registrations in the one transaction. If this is not possible, please contact the Registrar to have a discount applied.
Goalie Discount
A discount may apply to a goal tender with their own gear, who is the primary goal tender for a team. The discount is only available to players who play solely as a goalie, not to players who also play as a skater.
This discount is reviewed on a year by year basis, and is applied at the sole discretion of IHACT. Please refer to the current IHACT Payments Policy for full details. Contact the Registrar to enquire as to the status of any current goalie discount.
For any enquiries about registrations or payments, please contact registrar@ihact.org.au
