Whether it’s your first time out on the ice or you’re an experienced skater, young or old, man or woman there is a league designed to get you into the fastest team sport in the world. Training and coaching are provided to develop your skills and ensure a fun and exciting hockey experience.

Our Getting Started guide has been written for both those new to ice hockey and those who have played before but are new to the region and IHACT.

For New Players to Come and Try


Our Junior Development Academy is for non-registered children aged 4-16 years that have very little or no skating experience and have never played Ice Hockey before.

Participants will learn basic skating skills including:

  • getting up when they fall,

  • how to move on the ice (starting to skate/glide),

  • basic stopping techniques, and

  • how to move in the equipment.


They will also be introduced to basic game structure, stick and puck skills. All sessions are run by experienced accredited IHACT Junior Coaches and helpers.

By the end of the Development Academy, all attendees should have enough skill and confidence to join our junior leagues at the start of ...

For Returning Registered Players


This year IHACT are offering a Junior Summer Academy to our under 9 registered players, aged 5-8 years. The academy is designed for these younger players to focus on the development of the basic skills of ice hockey over the off-season.

Participants will continue to develop their skating skills, stopping techniques & build on the skills they already have.  These players will be on the ice at the same time as our new Junior Development Academy participants but will be kept separate on the ice. All sessions are run by experienced accredited IHACT Junior Coaches and helpers.

The Junior Summer Academy will run every Sunday from 12:15pm-1:30pm between:

  • 11 November 2018 – 9 December 2018; and

  • 10 February 2019 – 10 March 2019

The Women's Global Game is a continuous game played around the world with an accumulative score. The ACT game will kick off at 3.45pm on February 16 and players will be separated into Navy and White . If there is high interest we will look at splitting the game into two or extending the length. Jerseys will be provided and $20 is payable on the day.





Players: Open to any women and girls with IHA and IHACT membership, but you must register.
