• Dear IHACT Members,

  • The World Girls' Ice Hockey Weekend is a global opportunity for girls to try out hockey as a new sport. Thousands of participants took part in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and it’s back for 2017!

  • Bear was a man of many talents, many interests and many loves. Those fortunate to have spent any time with Bear would surely be the wiser and more worldly for he was a most willing dispenser of his accumulated knowledge for all those interests he possessed.

  • After a rocky start to the season the Junior Brave are currently 4th on the IHNSW Midget League ladder. They have gone from starting the seasons with two forfeits and a 10 goal deficit to moving up to 6th on the ladder before winning a double header against the Sydney Bears last weekend.

  • On Saturday 22nd April 2017, IHACT hosted the inaugural Women’s and Senior D Summer Presentation Night. 86 players, friends and family packed into the Glass House Café, with the Bombers being fashionably late, for a pasta and risotto dinner, to celebrate the achievements of the season.

  • Dear IHACT Members,

  • Our inaugural Senior D and Women’s Summer Leagues wrapped up on Sunday night with a massive Senior D Final. This is the first year Senior D and Women’s have played in summer and it did not deter new players from joining.

  • The IHACT Junior Academy has wrapped up for another year with 37 attending the 5 sessions over February and March. The children were aged from 5yrs to 16yrs and for most this was their first time on the ice, let alone with a stick and puck.

  • It was a dark and stormy night, in fact it bloody poured down and a mist descended as the players skated onto the ice. Before the first puck drop we all took a moment of silence to remember and honour DC Bear McPhail.

  • Kai Miettinen is the only Canberra player playing in the Australian Senior Men’s team competing in the IIHF Men’s World Championships Division II Group A in Romania starting on April 3rd.

  • Existing B graders, young players and local Brave players are taking to the ice in a Summer Senior A Tournament. The tournament is a best of 5 games between 2 teams and it’s full contact. We’re now 3 games in and it’s starting to get real.

  • Two of IHACT’s best and brightest are heading off to Sweden this week to begin a training camp with the National Youth Team (under 18yrs) competing in the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championships Division II Group B from March 13th-19th.

  • IHACT had two players in the Women’s U18 Team competing in the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Cup Division I, Group B Qualification in Spain 26th-29th January. Maddie Prescott and Brittany Mendham were part of the 18 player and 2 goalie squad coached by Tamra Jones.

  • Due to the growing popularity of ice hockey in the ACT, IHACT have moved the Senior D and Women’s competition to summer commencing this summer.

  • The IHACT winter season has come to an end with Presentation Night on Saturday 24 September. This was our last chance to have all our senior leagues celebrate together and make it special night for everyone.

  • Our ACT DeFris Team (Bantams) headed off to Newcastle on the 13th July to compete at the National Championships, which was held over 4 days.

  • The Canberra Phoenix PeeWee Team competed in the Coffs Harbour Big Banana Three-on-Three Skirmish. Now in its sixth year, the tournament includes 26 teams from 9 clubs across NSW, QLD and NSW.

Ice Hockey ACT (IHACT) today welcomed Labor's commitment to develop and plan for a new ice sports facility in the ACT if they win government at the October ACT election.

  • Was the motto of the June Goalie Clinic. Don MacDonald & Sera Dogramci lead the clinic over the weekend with off-ice lessons and on-ice training.
