2018 Official's Course

This year the official’s course will be split into the following 1 day courses depending on the official’s experience.

Referee's:

When: Saturday 3rd March 2018, 9:00am to 3:00pm

Where: Weston Creek Labor Club, Teesdale Cl, Stirling ACT 2611

Linesman's and first year officials:

When: Sunday 4th March 2018, 9:00am to 4:00pm

Where: Weston Creek Labor Club, Teesdale Cl, Stirling ACT 2611

All officials attending either course must attend the on ice component on Saturday afternoon 3:45pm to 4:45pm. All on-ice components of the course will be at the Phillip Ice Skating Rink. Members attending the course will need to bring, helmet, skates, whistle and protective equipment as required.

2018 Membership Requirements

As per the guidelines set at by IHA all members participating in the official’s course must purchase their 2018 membership when registering. This can be either a PJ or PS player membership or a Non-playing Referee membership.

Junior Player: $154.50

IHA M08 - $82.50 and IHACT PJ - $72.00

Senior Player: $250.00

IHA M11 - $165.00 and IHACT PS - $85.00

Non-Playing Referee: $105.50

IHA M11 - $104.50 and IHACT PS - $1.00

Officiating at National Tournaments

Any official wanting to represent at National Tournaments, including Kurt De Fris Bantam Tournament in Canberra or in any national competition including AIHL, AJIHL, AWIHL will be required to complete on ice skills testing during the on-ice component of the course. The results will be sent to the IHA RIC and will be used for assignments into these leagues.

It is recommended that all officials attend the training course however, it is not mandatory to continue officiating in local leagues. (?) Officials that choose not to attend will still need to sit the online course and receive a pass mark of 90% of higher. Any official wanting to officiate at Nationals, AIHL, AJIHL or AWIHL MUST attend the Referee's course on Saturday and complete the on ice skills testing.

WWVP Requirements

All officials must present a Working with Vulnerable People card (WWVP) at the course to participate as an official in 2018. This is a requirement set out by the Working with Vulnerable People ACT 2011 and applies to all persons who work or volunteer with vulnerable people.
